Baños
Baños is right at the feet of the volcano Tungurahua which is still activ. But when I say activ, I mean activ !!!
There are frequent earth quake and in 1999 the town has been evacuated after the volcano started to pump clouds of steam and ash into aerial columns many kilometers in height and after streams of glowing lava started to cascade down the sides of the volcano.
.
But do not worry, the volcano is carefully watched after and eventhough there are occasional ashfalls and light earth quake, this is a very touristic and visited town. Just get aware of the curent conditions before you get there.
Baños is well known for its springs. The landscape is beautiful
